A NEW WILMINGTON TRADITION: Library & Rotary Club Present ‘Summer Movies On The Swain’ This August

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington is known for its Concerts on the Common on Wednesday nights in July.  This summer, residents can plan on Summer Movies on the Swain on Friday nights in August.

At last week’s meeting, the Wilmington Board of Selectmen unanimously approved the request of Library Director Tina Stewart for the library to use the Swain Green on the first four Friday nights in August (Aug. 3, Aug. 10, Aug. 17, Aug. 24), from 7:45pm to 10pm, to conduct outdoor movie nights.

The library has chosen a selection of family-friendly, music-themed movies, including:

  • August 3: Coco
  • August 10: Pitch Perfect
  • August 17: Sing
  • August 24: Grease

Films will begin at 7:45pm. In case of inclement weather, check the library’s Facebook page for a location change, postponement or cancellation. The films are co-sponsored with the Wilmington Rotary Club.

Selectmen also approved the request of Stewart and the library to hold its Annual Summer Bash on Thursday, August 9, from 5pm to 7:30pm, on the Swain Green. Per usual, dinner will be available from two food trucks. This year’s music will be provided by Vanessa Trien and the Jumping Monkeys. Children’s games and entertainment will also be part of the evening’s festivities.
