WILMINGTON, MA — Rita B. (Taddeo) DiPlatzi, age 93, of Everett and Wilmington, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.
Rita was born in Molise, Italy, on March 4, 1925; she was the cherished daughter of the late Nicholino and Antonia Taddeo. Rita moved with her family to the United States at the age of 13 and they settled in Everett; Rita loved her new home and her new friends. Rita was educated in Everett and a graduate of Everett High School.
Rita married the “love of her life” Patrick DiPlatzi in 1947; the couple continued to live in Everett to be closer to family and where they raised three wonderful children. Rita and Patrick shared over 30 years together; they had many great times with family and friends before his untimely passing in 1979. Family was Rita’s whole world; she doted on her children and grandchildren and always showered them with unconditional love and support. Rita was an amazing cook and seamstress; she had an open door policy at her home and she always looked forward to everyone around her table enjoying a great meal. As a seamstress, Rita was top notch; she made countless beautiful outfits for her family and also for herself; Rita always looked amazing and was very proud of her appearance whenever she went out the door.
Rita worked for the Avon Company for over 50 years and was their top seller for over 25 years. Rita’s endearing personality and hard work ethic made her quite a success in the sales world.
In her spare time, Rita loved to travel the world; she looked forward to seeing new places and meeting new people. Rita was outgoing, friendly, sociable and fun; she made friends wherever she went and everyone always had a great time traveling with her.
In 2000, Rita left Everett and moved to the “Country” namely Wilmington to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Rita really enjoyed living in a small community and she cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.
Rita will be fondly remembered as a wonderful lady; she was kind, caring, giving, friendly and most of all loving. Rita’s passing left quite a void in the hearts of those she touched; she will forever be loved and missed.
Rita was the beloved wife of the late Patrick A. DiPlatzi, devoted mother of Michael DiPlatzi & wife Paula of Wilmington, Patricia Johnston & husband Richard of Hudson, NH and Maria Carmichael & husband Paul of Wakefield. Loving “Nunna” of Justin DiPlatzi, Michelle DiPlatzi-Brown, the late Patrick, Robert and Brian Johnston, Marisa Cherubino, Jason, Richard, Matthew and Eric Faulhefer, and Great “Nunna” of Jonathan, Aiden, Camden, Chloe, Jayden, Cameron, Giavanna, Fia, Christian and Elizabeth. Cherished daughter of the late Nicholino and Antonia (Mucciarone) Taddeo, dear sister of the late Arnaldo and Ezio Taddeo, sister-in-law of Lauralee Taddeo of Mashpee, Jenny Clark and Rita & Joe Trabucco all of Everett. Rita is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Friday, April 13th at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Church, 489 Broadway, Everett. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Visiting Hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, April 12th from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
