On Saturday, March 31, the Wilmington Recreation Department sponsored the 47th Annual Easter Egg Hunt for Wilmington children ages 6 and under. Volunteers and Recreation staff blanketed the Town Common with candy-filled eggs. When the signal sounded, hundreds of young children rushed to fill their baskets.
We would like to thank the dedicated volunteers that filled over 7,000 eggs with candy, and those volunteers that scattered the eggs around the Common for eager young children to collect. Thank you to the Wilmington Police Department for providing officers to assure safe access to the event and starting the scramble for the eggs. We extend heartfelt thanks to the Easter Bunny who came all the way to Wilmington to welcome children and pose for photos.
The success of an event of this size requires the support of residents and organizations within town. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this event a memorable one.
