WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington 21-year-old Kevin Burke, a 2015 graduate of Shawsheen Tech, was involved in a quad accident on Saturday, suffering major injuries, including severe head trauma, broken bones and a collapse lung.
Upon arriving at Massachusetts General Hospital, Burke had a portion of his skull removed to relieve the pressure from brain swelling. He is currently recovering in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit.
“As you can imagine, the road to recovery is going to be a long, challenging one and will require [Kevin’s parents] to be involved in his day-to-day care,” reads the fundraising page. “Having had to already use much of their savings towards [Kevin’s father’s] cancer treatment bills, [family friends] have decided to create this Go Fund Me Page to allow them the ease of mind from having to worry about the enormous bills that will surely pile up while Kevin recovers at MGH and eventually moves to Spaulding Rehab.”
