WILMINGTON, MA — Pacific Grove, located at 211 Lowell Street, has a new owner.
At its meeting on Monday night, the Wilmington Board of Selectmen unanimously approved amending the restaurant’s liquor license to reflect its new owner, Jin Rang.
“There’s not going to be any changes to the restaurant all — the cuisine, floor plans, and hours of operation will stay the same,” said the owner’s attorney, Christopher Coleman. “Just about all employees there now are staying on.”
Rang has “excellent restaurant experience,” according to Coleman, including serving as a waiter at Connecticut steakhouse (2007-2009), waiter at a New Hampshire steakhouse (2009-2010), owner of a Connecticut restaurant (2010-2015); and bartender at a Stoneham restaurant (2016-2018).
“[Pacific Grove] is a good Chinese restaurant. Don’t change a thing,” Selectman Mike McCoy told the owner.
“I frequent that place often. The food is great. Please don’t change a thing,” added Selectman Ed Loud.
In response to a question from Selectman Champoux, Rang noted that — in the future — hibachi may be added to the menu. The hibachi, however, would be cooked in the kitchen, not out in front of customers.
The Police Department offered a favorable recommendation regarding the amendment to the restaurant’s alcohol license. No audience member spoke during the public hearing.
