LOWELL, MA — Steven Allen Cunningham, age 64, a U.S. Navy Veteran, died peacefully on Friday evening, February 23, at the Life Care Center in Billerica, following a brief illness.
Steve was born in Cambridge in June 1953, the son of Lillian P. (Blair) (Cunningham) Proulx who currently resides in Tewksbury, and the late Owen F. Cunningham, who died in 2000. Steven was raised in Wilmington and remained in town until moving to Lowell fifteen years ago.
At the close of the Vietnam War, Steven enlisted into the U.S. Navy, and was honorably Discharged from the Seabee’s at the rank of UTCR. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
When in better health, he worked as a Counterman at Peabody Plumbing Supply Company at their Methuen and North Andover locations.
Besides his mother, he leaves a sister, Doreen (Cunningham) Goyette and her husband Raymond of Danville, NH; a nephew, Nickolas Goyette of Danville; several aunts, uncles and many cousins.
At his request, funeral services were private.
