WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a list of FREE upcoming programs for adults, teens and kids at the Wilmington Memorial Library.

Registration begins 30 days prior to the event. Fiction Critique Group *RR
Saturday, March 3, 9:15 11:30 am

Love writing fiction? Whether you are drafting a short story or a novel, joining our Critique Group is a great opportunity to meet other writers and get constructive feedback in a supportive environment. When registering, please provide your email address so you can receive an agenda and any prep materials before the meeting. Open to all experience levels writing in all genres. Led by local writing enthusiast, Barbara Alevras.

Vegetable Gardening*RR
Monday, March 5, 2:30 pm
Suzanne Crooker, who has worked in the vegetable department at Mahoney’s in Winchester for several years and has taught vegetable gardening classes there, will tell you all you need to know to start and sustain a vegetable garden.  Topics include soil conditioning, planting and harvesting schedule, fertilizing techniques, and insect and disease identification and controls.  There is no time like now to prepare for the growing season.

Cookin’ the Books *RR
Tuesday, March 6, 12 pm

Featured Cookbook: Flour Too by Joanne Chang                             
If you love to cook and enjoy talking about food and sharing recipes, then this group is for you.  Pick up a copy of the cookbook (or find a recipe from the book online). Bring your dish to the meeting and enjoy sampling everyone’s dishes! Please register

Tax Tips *RR
Wednesday, March 7, 7 pm

Wilmington resident and tax consultant Joe DiJulia will remind taxpayers of certain federal and Massachusetts tax breaks and deductions available for qualifying expenses in the 2017 tax year.  Roth IRAs, traditional IRAs, 401Ks, tuition and fees deductions, American Opportunity credit, Lifetime Learning Credit, new 529 Plan contributions deduction and more will be reviewed.

How-To Fair
Saturday, March 10, 9 am to 12 noon
Join community members, local businesses, and non-profits for demonstrations, workshops, and activities to develop your own DIY skills.

Youth Events

Drop-In Baby Times
Saturday, March 3, 9:30 am
Babies and their caregivers will enjoy this fun storytime that includes rhymes, songs, books, scarves, shakers, bubbles and more.  Infants through 24 months

Dads and Donuts
Saturday, March 3, 10:30 am
Dads and their kids ages two and up are invited to drop in for stories, songs, rhymes and more.  Moms, grandparents and other caregivers are welcome, too! Ages 2-5 and one or more adults

ACT Practice Test *RR
Saturday, March 3, 12:30-5 pm
Take the 3 hour and 40 minute test for free! Practice the endurance and skill needed to score high on the ACT, and get a personalized score report that shows your strengths and weaknesses. Grades 9-12

Wilmington Community Playgroup
Monday, March 5, 9:30 am
Drop in for a fun playgroup led by the CTI Family Resource Network. Ages 2-5

Teen Trivia Night *RR
Tuesday, March 6, 6:30 pm  
Show off your smarts at pub-style trivia! Play against your friends, putting your pop culture knowledge to the test. The winning team walks off with prizes (and bragging rights!). Snacks provided. Grades 6-12

Kindergarten Book Club *RR
Wednesday, March 7, 3:45 pm
This book club is for Kindergarteners who miss storytime or those who love being read to. We will read and discuss a few books together, then do a fun activity.  Kindergarten

Summer Activities Fair
Wednesday, March 7, 6:30-8 pm
Get a jump start on planning activities for your children this summer.  Representatives from local camps and summer programs will be on hand with information about their summer offerings.
