STONEHAM, MA — Clare Soucy, of Wilmington, will perform in the upcoming Winter Festival put together by the Young Company and taking place at the Greater Boston Stage Company’s Theater (395 Main Street) in Stoneham.
Soucy will play the role of lethargian/miner in “Phantom Tollbooth Jr.”
The Winter Festival, performed by actors in grades 1-12, is the culmination of eight weeks of rehearsals by the students and their professional directors, music directors, choreographers, stage managers and design team. The Young Company Winter Festival includes four fully-staged productions: family-friendly musical “Phantom Tollbooth Jr.” follows Milo on a mission to save Rhyme and Reason in the Kingdom of Wisdom; in the fantastical “Seussical,” all of the classic Dr. Seuss characters come to life; in the Disney classic “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” Quasimodo escapes his bell tower and experiences freedom and adventure; and in the dark comedy “Bat Boy: The Musical,” Edgar, a half boy/half bat creature, joins a local family and learns to embrace his human half.
Based on the classic children’s novel, “Phantom Tollbooth Jr.” follows Milo, a bored 10-year-old who finds a magical tollbooth in his room. Joining forces with a watchdog named Tock, Milo drives through the tollbooth’s gates on a mission to save Rhyme and Reason in the Kingdom of Wisdom.
“Phantom Tollbooth Jr.” runs at 11am on Sunday, January 28, Saturday, February 3, and Sunday, February 4. The show is recommended for all ages.
Tickets are $15. For advance tickets, call 781-279-2200 or visit http://greaterbostonstage.org.
