WORCESTER, MA — The Assumption College Department of Athletics has announced that Brian Pickett, of Wilmington, has earned a spot on the Assumption College Men’s Ice Hockey team. Pickett, Class of 2018, is competing during the Greyhounds’ 2017-18 season.
“Coming off a championship last season, we’re looking to continue the momentum and bring a second title back for Assumption,” said Associate Head Coach Michael Looney ’12. “Though the new landscape of our conference schedule is challenging, we have a strong group of student athletes who work hard both in the classroom and on the ice. We have a large number of returning players who have proved to be formidable leaders for the new players.”
Last season, the Assumption College Men’s Ice Hockey won the NE10 Championship, a first in program history, with a 3-2 overtime win over St. Michael’s College. The Hounds were picked third in the NE10 Preseason Coaches’ Poll and are looking to defend the title this season in which they returned 24 players, including last season’s top four scorers. On Jan. 27, Assumption will commemorate the program’s 100th anniversary at the annual Alumni Game.
