The Wilmington Insider For January 23, 2018

WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a round-up of what’s going on in Wilmington on Tuesday, January 23, 2018:

Happening Today:

Weather: Rain and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 5pm, then a chance of rain and thunderstorms after 5pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Areas of dense fog. High near 55. East wind 5 to 15 mph becoming south in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.


At Town Hall: The Wilmington Commission on Disabilities meets at 6:30pm in the Town Hall’s Small Conference Room. Read the agenda HERE.

In The Community: The Wilmington-based Sole Sisters Running Club is holding a “Dining For A Cause” fundraiser at the Ninety Nine Restaurant (144 Lowell Street)  from 4pm to 11pm. 15% of your bill will be donated to the Club’s Scholarship Fund if you present the flyer to your server/host.  The donation applies to both dine-on AND take-out orders.  No coupons, discounts or promotions are accepted during the fundraiser.

In The Community: Looking for an excuse to eat out? The Wilmington High School’s Class of 2019 is holding a Fundraiser at Wilmington’s Panera Bread (228 Main Street, Wilmington Plaza) from 11am to 8pm. Print and bring the flyer and 10%-20% of your bill will be donated to the WHS junior class. Panera Gift Cards and Panera catering are excluded from the event.

In The Community: Abundant Life Christian School and Learning Center is hosting a Community Open House from 6pm to 8pm. All families in Wilmington and surrounding communities are invited to come see the high quality education and experiences being provided to students at Abundant Life, visit the classrooms, and meet the exceptional teachers and staff.

In The Community: The Tewksbury/Wilmington Elks holds bingo — open to the public — every Tuesday. Doors open at 5pm. Pizza, hot dog and pastries are sold. Free coffee.

In The Community: Angels In Motion meets every Tuesday, from 9:30am to 2:30pm, at the Wilmington Knights of Columbus Hall (112 Middlesex Avenue).  The club provides a great opportunity for seniors to meet new friends or reacquaint with old ones. A luncheon is served as noon.  Free. Handicapped accessible.

Live Music: Larry Gilbert performs at Rocco’s Restaurant & Bar (193 Main Street) beginning at 6pm.

At The Library: Tranquil Tuesdays with Brad at 9:15am. Writing Skills Group at 7pm. Mother-Daughter Yoga at 7pm. [Learn more and register HERE.]

At The Senior Center: Zumba at 9am. Computer Class at 9am. Aerobics at 10:30am. Mah Jongg at 1pm. Gentle Yoga at 2:30pm.  [Learn more HERE.]
