WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a round-up of what’s going on in Wilmington on Tuesday, January 9, 2018:

In The News:

Do you know about your teen’s ‘secret life?‘: Jon Mattleman, a therapist with more than 35 years of experience, will be giving an 80-minute presentation called “The Secret Life of Teens” on Tuesday, January 16 at 7pm in the WHS Auditorium.  Learn more about event from this recent Lowell Sun article written by Kori Tuitt.

Happening Today:

Weather: Sunny, with a high near 36. West wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Notice From Town Hall: The Department of Public Works will be collecting Christmas trees curbside beginning January 2, 2018. Residents should remove all decorations and plastic wrapping from their tree and place it curbside on their regular trash pickup day.  It is anticipated that the collection will take approximately 2 weeks.  Please note that the pickup may be delayed by weather and other work demands on the DPW. The Christmas trees collected by the Town will be recycled into mulch.  The mulch will be made available to residents in the spring at the Recycling Center, and will also be used on Town projects.

In The Community: The Tewksbury/Wilmington Elks holds bingo — open to the public — every Tuesday. Doors open at 5pm. Pizza, hot dog and pastries are sold. Free coffee.

In The Community: Angels In Motion meets every Tuesday, from 9:30am to 2:30pm, at the Wilmington Knights of Columbus Hall (112 Middlesex Avenue).  The club provides a great opportunity for seniors to meet new friends or reacquaint with old ones. A luncheon is served as noon.  Free. Handicapped accessible.

Live Music: Larry Gilbert performs at Rocco’s Restaurant & Bar (193 Main Street) beginning at 6pm.

At The Library: Tranquil Tuesdays with Brad at 9:15am. Art Adventures: Picasso Self Portraits at 3:45pm. Mandals For Well-Being at 7pm. [Learn more and register HERE.]

At The Senior Center: Computer Class at 9:30am. Aerobics at 10:30am. Mah Jongg at 1pm.  [Learn more HERE.]

Go Wildcats!: 8 WHS teams are in action, including the WHS Boys Varsity Basketball team hosting Wakefield High at 6pm, while the WHS Girls Varsity Basketball team travels to Wakefield High at 6pm. [See the complete schedule HERE.]
