WILMINGTON, MA — Marlene J. (Russo) Eastman, age 78, of Wilmington, died unexpectedly on December 14, 2017, at the Winchester Hospital.
Marlene was born on February 10, 1939, in Cambridge, MA; she was the loving daughter of the late Peter J. and Rose (Taurisano) Russo. Marlene grew up in Belmont, MA and was a graduate of Belmont High School.
Marlene married her “sweetheart” Merle C. Eastman Jr. on June 8, 1959 and together they celebrated 53 wonderful years before his passing in September of 2010.
Marlene and Merle moved to Wilmington in the early 1960’s where they raised their three children. Marlene was a very devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; she always looked forward to spending time with her family especially at the holidays.
Marlene was a hard worker who enjoyed taking care of her house, working around the yard, and maintaining her pool for everyone to enjoy. Outside the home, Marlene worked at the West Intermediate School where she loved the students and later she worked for many years at the Sweetheart Plastics Company in Wilmington where she made many friends.
In her spare time, Marlene enjoyed crocheting and creating beautiful pieces at her ceramics classes. Marlene was an “AVID” Elvis fan who collected his memorabilia and dedicated a room in her house just for him. She enjoyed listening to all kinds of music especially “her Elvis” but her second favorite was Andrea Bocelli.
Throughout the years, Marlene had many great times with her family and friends as they traveled to Maine, Aruba, and took several cruises to various places; everyone always had a great time.
Marlene will lovingly be remembered as the “Matriarch” of her family; she was kind, caring, and very giving of her time and talents. Marlene loved her family unconditionally and was very proud of each and every one of them. Marlene will forever be in the hearts of those she touched.
Marlene was the beloved wife of the late Merle C. Eastman, Jr., devoted mother of Audrey Golden & husband Bob and Merle C. Eastman III & wife Karen all of Attleboro, MA and Jeanne Johnson & husband Rich of Derry, NH. Loving “Grammy” of Keith Golden & wife Susie, Andrew Golden, Courtney Anifantis & husband Niko and Craig Eastman and “Gigi” to Sophia and Joshua Golden. Cherished daughter of the late Peter and Rose (Taurisano) Russo, dear sister of Patricia Clausen of Connecticut, Christine Russo & partner Dan O’Connor of Billerica, Carol Flynn & husband Gene of Londonderry, NH, the late Josephine Manning, Annette Livingston and Rose Antonucci. Marlene is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family & friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA on Saturday, December 30th for Visitation from 2:00-5:30 p.m. immediately followed by a Service at 5:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations in Marlene’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
