WILMINGTON, MA — Carol G. Grabowski (Thomson), age 82, a long-time resident of Wilmington, died unexpectedly on December 19, 2017, at the Winchester Hospital.
Carol was born on July 12, 1935, in Medford, MA; she was raised and educated in Medford and was a graduate of Cheverus Centennial High School in Malden.
In 1957, Carol married the “love of her life” Walter Grabowski; the couple shared thirty-seven wonderful years together before his untimely passing in 1994. Carol and Walter moved to Wilmington in 1963 where they raised their sons Scott and Glenn. Carol loved being a mother and taking care of “her boys”; she was always active in their school and sporting events; she was their biggest fan.
Carol was known to be very domestic and an excellent cook; she was a “Foodie” before there was such a thing and she was way ahead of her time. Carol loved to experiment with her recipes and she gave every dish her special touch.
For over thirty years, Carol worked the night shift in the Admitting Department of Winchester Hospital. Carol loved her job and the people she worked with; she considered them her “second family” and she continued their life-long friendships even after she retired. Carol was an excellent worker and she cared deeply for her patients; her kindness and compassion always put them at ease.
In her spare time, Carol enjoyed travelling and spending time with her grandchildren, Connor and Danielle, who she adored.
Carol will be fondly remembered for her kindness towards others; she was very sweet and always willing to help anyone in need. Carol was truly a remarkable lady and she will forever be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Carol was the beloved wife of the late Walter J. Grabowski, devoted mother of Scott W. Grabowski of San Francisco, CA and Glenn C. Grabowski & his wife Karen of Wilmington, MA.
