DENTON, TX — Ruth Evelyn (Schneider) D’Entremont was called by her creator to her heavenly home on December 9th, 2017, and reunited with her husband of 72 years (Jim) and her daughter Judith. Ruth was 98 years old, having been born in Roslindale, MA on 21 July 1919. She lived most of her years in the Boston area (Jamaica Plain, Walpole and Wilmington) raising her family of four sons and one daughter; James Arthur of Denton, TX, Robert (Rocky) Francis of Mount Holly, NJ, Keith David of Wilmington, MA and Phillip Glen of Ashburnham, MA. A daughter, Judith Elaine D’Entremont Deneault preceded her in death. Upon retirement, Ruth and her husband Jim lived for nearly 25 years in Safety Harbor FL before moving to Denton in 2008. Jim died in early January 2013.
Ruth leaves behind four sons and 39 grands, great grands and great-great grandchildren. Ruth was also preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Margaret Schneider of Roslindale, MA., and all her siblings; brothers, Fred of CT, Edward and Robert (Bob) of MA, and sister, Dorothy of CA. Ruth was the last surviving member of both her and her husband Jim’s siblings.
Ruth grew up in Roslindale, MA, married her high school sweetheart in 1940 and was a homemaker raising five children in the Boston area. In the mid-1980s Ruth and Jim moved to enjoy retirement in Safety Harbor, FL and be closer to her daughter Judith’s children. Upon reaching their 90s, Ruth and Jim moved to Denton, TX to be near their son James and four grandchildren. In Denton Ruth resided independently in Good Samaritan Village, the Vintage for assisted living, and then Brookdale Senior Living for her last four years. She adopted the Rangers as her baseball team, but remained a Red Sox fan to the end.
Her Funeral Mass will be at the Immaculate Conception Church in Denton at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, December 14th. Interment will be at a later date in the D’Entremont family plot in St. Joseph Cemetery, Boston MA.
