PHOTO: Wilmington Firefighter Nick Newhall Returns From Coast Guard Duty, Presents Department With Special Flag

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington firefighter Nick Newhall recently returned from his Coast Guard deployment at Guantanamo Bay and brought back a special present for the Wilmington Fire Department.

Newhall presented Fire Chief Rick McClellan with an American flag that was flown by his patrol boat on September 11, 2017 — for 9 minutes and 11 seconds — while on an Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection Patrol in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.

The flag serves as a tribute to the men and women who have given their lives in defense of our country and to those who continue to fight in the global war on terror.
