READING, MA — On October 17th, Nancy Brown, Wilmington Branch manager, Sandy Convery, Reading Branch Manager, and Todd Bettinson, Residential Loan Originator, represented Reading Cooperative Bank at a luncheon hosted by the Power of Flowers Project. RCB was a Rose Sponsor of the event, donating $1,000 to the non-profit group.

Since 2009, The Power of Flowers has rescued thousands of pieces, otherwise destined for the dumpster, remade them into over 50,000 revitalized arrangements, and delivered them where there is a need for some sunshine.

The organization is made up of volunteers dedicated to enriching the lives of others by harnessing the proven power of flowers to lift spirits and promote healing. Arrangements can be found everywhere, from bedsides in nursing homes, to coffee tables of Meals on Wheels clients, to the hospital rooms of critically ill children and disabled veterans, to the rooms of homeless mothers and the desks of under-appreciated helpers, and to those simply going through a rough patch. The project goes about renewing and refreshing gently used flowers, recycled from weddings, banquets, business conferences, and memorial services — any event where flowers are often left behind or tossed in the trash while they are still fresh. They also receive donations from flower wholesalers.

“We really enjoyed the luncheon,” said RCB’s Nancy Brown. “The organization is amazing. They do so much to brighten so many lives.”
