TEWKSBURY, MA – Today at approximately 11:12am, Tewksbury Police responded to a 911 call to private property on South Street in Tewksbury for a report of an ATV crash. Upon arrival, police located a 15-year-old Wilmington boy on the ground next to the ATV he had been riding. The victim was pronounced dead on scene.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the boy was the sole operator of the ATV at the time of the crash. As no foul play is suspected the identity of the victim will not be released by this office.
This is an open investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police, Tewksbury Police and the Massachusetts Environmental Police. This matter has been referred to the Office of the Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death.
UPDATE: The boy was a student at the Shawsheen Tech. Grief counseling will be available at the school on Monday.
