WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a round-up of what’s going on in Wilmington on Sunday, October 29, 2017:

In The News:

Rams Win Too: The WHS Football team wasn’t the only local team victorious on Friday night in their playoff opener.  The Shawsheen Tech Rams defeated Whittier Tech, 22-8. Read the game summary, courtesy of the Wilmington Advocate, HERE.

Wilmington Resident Honored: “Massa­chusetts’ Grand Lodge of Masons recognized George Ross earlier this month for their Robert H. Johnston Service Award,” writes Lizzy Hill in a recent Wilmington Town Crier article. “[Ross] is consistently the first to volunteer, and continually serves the Friendship Lodge of Wil­mington in any way possible.”

Happening Today:

Weather: A chance of showers, mainly after 5pm. Patchy fog after 4pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 65. Light southeast wind increasing to 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Traffic Advisory: Butters Row Bridge will be closed through November 10. The MassDOT are repairing damaged bridge timber deck planks and timber stringers. Work will take place daily from 7am to 7pm. Detour routes are posted HERE.

In The Community (Part 1): The Wilmington Farmers Market wraps up its sixth season with a Harvest Fest from 10am to 1pm. More than 10 vendors will be present, plus a petting zoo, balloon animals, face painting, and pumpkin decorating [Read more HERE.]

In The Community (Part 2): The Wilmington United Methodist Church (87 Church Street) will be hosting a community “Trunk or Treat” at 4pm. Open to all Wilmington Residents passing by and coming to stay. Grown ups-Decorate your car for fun and park it at the exit end of the WUMC parking lot. Kids come in costume and visit each of the cars for fun games and Treats from the Trunks.

In The Community (Part 3): The Wilmington Recreation Department is sponsoring the 50th Annual Horribles Parade. The parade will leave the Public Safety Building at 4:30pm. A fire engine will lead the parade down Church Street to the High School Cafeteria where treats will await all costumed children. In case of inclement weather, participants should go directly to the Wilmington High School Cafeteria. Boys and girls should bring a bag to carry their treats.

In The Community (Part 4): Cub Scout Pack 126 of Wilmington will be presenting its third annual Haunted House from 5pm to 7pm at Villanova Hall (126 Middlesex Avenue). There will be a $2 entry fee at the door. Hot cider will be available for $1 a cup. Fall games will be going on during the haunted house as well. The Haunted House will be elementary school appropriate (kindergarten through Grade 5). The Cub Scouts will build and act in the Haunted House. They work very hard on this event and have so much fun!

In The Community (Part 5): The Aleppo Shriners HONS (Helping Our Nobles Serve) Ladies are hosting their annual Holiday Fair from 10am to 3pm in the Fez Room at the Shriners Auditorium (99 Fordham Road). The public is invited.  The event features photos with Santa, a raffle basket table, an arts & crafts table, silent auctions, bake sale, live entertainment, and more.  A turkey dinner for $10 will be held from noon to 2pm, accompanied with music by the Aleppo Swing Band. Admission and parking is FREE.
