WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington High School Principal Linda Peters announced that the following students in the Class of 2018 have been named Commended Students in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program:
- Hailey R. Dusablon
- Aditya K. Gautham
- Travis Haines
- Gillian E. Lentini
Dusablon’s interests and activities are varied, making her a very busy young lady. Besides being a member of the Wilmington High School Chapter of the National Honor Society, Dusablon belongs to the Engineering Club and DECA. Her volunteer efforts include organizing tutors at the West Intermediate School, working in the kennel at Great Dog Rescue of New England, and assisting at organized flag football at WHS.
She also works at Target as a cashier and at the Point Sebago Resort General Store while on vacation.
Her awards include Academic Achievement in Visual Arts, Foreign Language, a bronze medal in the National French Exam, and at DECA district competitions, and a featured piece at the Wilmington Public Schools’ Art Fair.
Athletically, Dusablon is a kickboxer and plays on the WHS hockey, volleyball, and ice hockey teams.
Gautham is an honor student who is the recipient of numerous and awards and recognitions including being inducted into the National Honor Society. He is an active member of the WHS community participating in winter and spring track, Model UN, Science Club, and the school’s Ping Pong Club, of which he is the founder.
Outside of school, he continues to pursue his passion for the piano. Gautham has spent the last two summers seeking out academic enrichment programs at Tufts and Boston University. He is considering continuing his education in the area of environmental science and/or pre-medical studies.
Haines is a student who has sought out academic challenges each year at WHS. Outside of the classroom he has focused his attention on taking part in community service, working part-time and playing football for WHS.
Last year, he turned his efforts to becoming an entrepreneur, spending countless hours working to support a new landscaping company, during both the school year and the summer.
He is currently considering continuing his education in the area of business, specifically entrepreneurial studies, as well as continuing to grow the landscaping company he is a part of.
Lentini is an honors student who has sought out numerous challenges each year at WHS. She is involved in a wide variety of activities at WHS, including National Honor Society, Strings Attached Orchestra, art club, Model UN, prom committee, and volunteering at the town’s Tiny Tots program.
She is currently undecided about what her academic focus will be as a college student; however, she is currently considering fields within the areas of math and science.
