Wilmington High Gymnasium To Be Dedicated To Larry Cushing On October 28

WILMINGTON, MA — The Wildcat Athletic Alumni and Friends (W.A.A.F.) is proud to announce the official dedication of the Wilmington High School gymnasium as it becomes the Lawrence “Larry” H. Cushing gymnasium on Saturday, October 28th, 2017 at 11:00am.

The dedication will feature favorite pastimes during Larry’s tenure as a WHS teacher, coach and athletic director, including Larry’s favorite May-Pole dance. In conjunction with the physical education department, elementary school students are invited to participate in the dances during the dedication. The dedication will also feature a brief program, emceed by Wilmington’s Jim Stewart as a tribute to Larry’s Life.

Larry was an accomplished athlete, U.S. Army Seabee and above all, a true community member bleeding blue and white. He dedicated 28 years to the Wilmington school system, working as a teacher, coach and athletic trainer. His selfless care and dedication to the students of Wilmington was impeccable, something which shaped the lives of hundreds of WHS students whom had the pleasure of meeting “Mr. Cushing.” Many Wilmington High alumni acclaim Larry as one of the biggest role models in their life, someone who inspired them to become their better and bigger self.

Wilmington is a better community for us, and for our children, because of Larry Cushing. Join W.A.A.F. for this special dedication, which is open to all.
