OBITUARY: Gerald (Jerry) A. Carrozza, 74

WILMINGTON, MA — Gerard (Jerry) A. Carrozza, age 74, of Wilmington, died peacefully with his family at his side on September 5, 2017.

Gerard was the beloved husband of the late Mary I. Carrozza, devoted father to Matthew D. Carrozza and his wife Jilliane of Raleigh, NC and Dean J. Carrozza of Wilmington, cherished son of the late Gerardo and Carmela Carrozza, dear brother of Marie Morgan of Medford, the late Vincent Carrozza and Celeste Howard both originally from Medford MA, brother-in-law of Albert and Francis Marotta of Wilmington, Robert and Rosanne Fuller of Tewksbury and the late John Picardi of NYC, NY. Gerard is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Gerard was a generous and humble friend, brother, father and husband. His jet black hair and a captivating wide smile exemplified his handsome persona both inside and out. As a dedicated family man and bricklayer of 40 years, Gerard was known for his unparalleled ability to create strong and lasting relationships with both the people in his life just like the brick and mortar structures he created. Always the protector, he kept those around him out of harm’s way, always concerned for the health and happiness of others. Gerard enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, peaceful day trips in his truck, regular card games and meals shared with the best of friends and truly enjoyed the amazing home he’d built for his family and shared with his friends.

Gerard Carrozza was an active member of the Bricklayers Union (Local 3) and served within the U.S. Army Reserves during the Vietnam era.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Monday, September 11th at 11:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Dorothy’s Church, Main Street (Rte. 38), Wilmington at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday, September 10th from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
