WILMINGTON, MA — MassDOT and the MBTA are undertaking federally mandated Positive Train Control (PTC) infrastructure installation which will increase the safety of commuter rail customers and would like to advise the community of upcoming daytime drill work within the right-of-way along the MBTA Lowell Commuter Rail Line. Due to the equipment necessary to perform this work, high noise levels can be expected.
Starting Saturday, September 2, 2017, the PTC Systems Integrator Ansaldo STS USA, Inc. will commence rock drilling activities during daytime work hours of between approximately 6AM – 6PM and it is expected it could take approximately two days to complete this work.
The work will take place along the Lowell Line in the vicinity of the Wilmington Commuter Rail Station near Burlington Avenue.
For further information regarding the PTC work schedule please visit the MBTA PTC program website.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation. We appreciate your patience as the MBTA takes this important step in making the railways safer for customers with the implementation of the PTC program.
