POLICE LOG for August 20: Suspected Drunk Driver; Teens Misbehaving; Elderly Hitchhiker

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are SIX highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Sunday, August 20, 2017:

  • A walk-in party reported that two unsuccessful attempts were made to open credit cards in his name. (10:02am)
  • A caller reported an erratic operator, possibly intoxicated. Caller had conversation with operator who appeared to be falling asleep in the Dunkin Donuts parking lot (Middlesex Avenue, near Rocco’s). Caller could smell alcohol on operator’s breath. Police were unable to locate. (4:54pm)
  • Anonymous passerby concerned that elderly man was hitchhiking on Route 38, walking towards Tewksbury. Police responded. Man had been picked up. (5:23pm)
  • A Pouliot Place resident reported a silver Honda hatchback with a juvenile male operator was regularly using excessive speed in the area. He had been approached by caller and other residents to slow down. Police responded and advised operator and his mother. (6:08pm)
  • A caller reported an older black Lexus with teenage occupants threw a bottle at her vehicle on Main Street. Vehicle passed cars on wrong side of the road, heading towards Woburn. Police were unable to locate. Bottle contained water. (6:48pm)
  • Police notified DPW that street sign at corner of Crescent Street and Garden Avenue was missing. (7:41pm)
