WILMINGTON, MA — In response to the recent events in Charlottesville, a group of Wilmington residents have organized a Candlelight Vigil for Peace this Sunday, August 20 at 5:30pm in the green space at Yentile Farm (9 Cross Street, Wilmington).
“Please stand with us against hate, bigotry, and discrimination,” reads the invitation. “This is a peaceful, family-friendly gathering. Signs of love and peace are encouraged.”
Wilmington for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion is behind the effort. This newly formed group is working to bring Wilmington residents together in an effort to create a feeling of inclusion.
“Change occurs from action, not from standing on the sidelines,” reads a message from the group. “We will work to create a more inclusive community and we urge our fellow neighbors to do the same.”
