SALEM, NH — Jacqueline M. (Lascelles) Bland passed away in her Salem, NH home at the age of 83, following a brief illness. Jacqueline was born in Wilmington, MA on January 25, 1934 and is predeceased by her parents Grace Dodge and Francis Lascelles and brothers Francis, Edmond, Paul and William Lascelles.
Jacqueline was a versatile artist, able to craft beautiful pieces using multiple media: needle and thread, crochet, baking cakes, or paint and brush – she truly had a passion for bringing beauty to life – and sometimes even larger-than-life when she constructed a 13-foot leprechaun made entirely of snow. Those who knew Jacqueline will fondly remember her garden, adorned with forsythia in the spring, timeless roses (one an heirloom from her grandmother) that bloomed all summer, astonishing hibiscus that came up year after year and amaryllis that could often be found inside during the holiday season.
Jacqueline is survived by her husband, best friend and love of her life of 63 years, John W. Bland Sr.. Jacqueline and John’s relationship was devout in faith and family, richly filled with a lifetime of memories shared doing the things they loved: boating, camping, square-dancing and much more. Friends and family were always welcomed with open arms and hearts eager to listen, share and laugh – their home greeting adults and children alike to a kitchen stocked with as many sweets, Lindt chocolates especially, as it was with love.
Her memory will fondly live on through her 2 sisters, sisters’ Grace McGondel and Pauline Capps; 3 daughters, Donna Marquis and husband Arthur, Brenda Santos and husband Mark, and Jean Orso; 2 sons, John W. Bland Jr. wife Susan and Craig Bland and wife Maureen; 12 grandchildren, Jamie Marquis, Kathryn Santos and husband David, Sandra Moschetto and husband Raymond, Aaron Orso and wife Katie, Mark Santos and wife Bridgette, Jared Bland and wife Jayme, Brett Marquis and wife Maya, Nathan Orso, Mallory Stonehouse and husband Jason, Trevor Bland and wife Kristen, Wesley Bland and wife Katy, and Mary Santos; 9 great-grandchildren, Ryann, Lily, Charlotte, Jack, Jace, Audrey, Willow, Addison, and Jada; and many nieces and cousins.
To celebrate and share memories of Jacqueline’s life, visitation will be held Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Friday, July 7th in Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Rd., Salem. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, 329 Main St., Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association: https://www.apdaparkinson.org/.
