Wilmington’s Abby LaClair Earns Spot On Northeast Team In USA Softball All-American Games

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington softball player Abby LeClair recently earned national recognition after being named to the 12-under Northeast Region Team in the USA Softball All-American Games this August.  LeClair is one the top 30 players in her age range in the region, and among the top 360 players nationwide.

“Nor’Easters Softball/Baseball would like to extend a sincere congratulations to Abby LaClair and her family on such an amazing accomplishment!,” the Nor’Easters program said in a recent announcement. “We are so proud of her hard work on and off the field, her commitment improving, and dedication to perform at the highest level.  We are excited to have Abby represent what the Nor’Easters Softball Program is about at the highest level! We congratulate her, her family, and our coaches who made this opportunity possible.”

According to the announcement, more than 460 players tried out for the Northeast Region Team, including players from Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont. These players competed for 30 total roster spots, forming two elite-level teams to compete against 22 teams across nine other regions.

“The USA Softball All-American Games is a prestigious tournament hosted at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City,” reads a press release from USA Softball. “It provides National exposure to elite athletes in the 12u age division and has been specifically designed to identify and highlight the best athletes from across the country.  Designation to the USA Softball All-American team is the highest honor a player can receive and instantly brands a player as one of the top athletes in the United States.”
