LIBRARY LINEUP: Escape Room On June 30 & July 7; Library Hiring High School Students

WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a list of FREE upcoming programs for adults, teens and kids at the Wilmington Memorial Library.

Registration begins 30 days prior to the event. Please register online using our Calendar of Events at www.wilmlibrary.org or by calling (978) 694-2099 (for Adult) or (978) 694-2098 (for Children/Teen). Please note we request registration for programs that are marked *RR. Thank you to the Friends of the Library for funding support for library programs!

Adult Events

Adult Summer Reading Program
Adult Services Librarian Kim Rowley encourages adults to take time to relax and read  this summer. You can enter the books that you read in our weekly drawing. The winner will receive a voucher for a free meal from the Food Trucks at the Summer Bash on Thursday, August 10. Want some help in selecting a good read? Just stop by and ask Kim for some tips.

Pints + Pages Book Group*RR
Thursday, July 6, 7 pm

Featured book: Before the Fall by Noah Hawley
Location: Bertucci’s, Reading
This social book group geared towards readers in their 20’s and 30’s meets on the first Thursday of every other month.  Librarians from the Wilmington and Reading Public Libraries host this book discussion.  Pick up a copy of the book at the library and join them for a lively discussion.

Tickets on Sale for After Hours Comedy Night
Friday, July 21, 7 pm; Doors open at 6:45 pm

Enjoy an evening of clean comedy and refreshment with Wilmington’s own Steve Bjork, who the Boston Globe called one of the biggest names in Boston comedy. Along with Steve will be a second Boston comedian. Ticket price includes a beer (a selection of summer beers will be available) and snacks.  Steve will sell and sign copies of his book, Almost Domesticated, at the event. Tickets are $15 each and are on sale at the main services desk. (Must be 21 years old).

Kids & Teen Events

Family Escape the Room: Library Edition*RR
Friday, June 30, 1 pm-4 pm
Competing with a team of up to 8 people, families must stretch their problem solving skills and escape the room together before the buzzer sounds!  Grades 4-8 

Shrinky Dinks Jewelry *RR
Wednesday, July 5, 3 pm
Make necklaces using Shrinky Dinks, stamps and permanent markers! Grades 4-8

Angry Birds *RR
Wednesday, July 5, 6:30 pm
Join us for an evening of building and destructing! Teams will take turns building structures and knocking them down using giant angry birds and catapults. We’ll see who can make the strongest structure. Then we’ll work together to build a giant structure and see how long it can last! Grades 1-5

Baby Times
Thursday, July 6, 9:30 am
This program of songs, rhymes, games and picture books is for babies under the age of two years and their caregivers. Space is limited.  Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Time for Twos
Thursday, July 6, 10:30 am
This fun program features books, songs, rhymes, music and movement.  Age: 2 and a caregiver. Space is limited.  Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. 

Build a Better . . . Car
Friday, July 7, 10-12 am
Drop in for a different building challenge each week.  This week we will be building a car. Ages 3+

Library News

Holiday Hours
The library will close at 5 pm on Thursday, June 29 and on Monday, July 3. The library will be closed on Tuesday, July 4. Please note that the library will be closed on Saturdays beginning July 1 until after Labor Day.

Book Store Next Door Summer Hours
The Friends of the Library Book Store Next Door is open Wednesday and Saturday 10 am to 4pm through the summer.  Stock up on beach reads!

Library Page Applications
The library is accepting applications for library page positions for openings that will be available in mid- August. Applicants for this position should be 16 years of age or turning 16 in the fall. Please stop by the library to pick up an application.
