WILMINGTON, MA — Congratulations to the Wilmington Youth Soccer Girls 7th Grade-1 team on an incredibly successful Spring soccer season. After finishing league play unbeaten in division 2, the Grade 7-1 team posted two shutouts in the Middlesex League Commissioner’s Cup to win their league championship. This allowed them to qualify for the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions (MTOC), state tournament.
Their exciting tournament started off with a very close 1-0 win against a disciplined Dartmouth team. In their second game of the day the Wilmington girls were scored upon early and were down 1-0 against a high scoring Ludlow team. The players looked mad about being scored on for the first time in 4 weeks as they significantly increased their play and won the game 5-1. Their 3rd game in group play was no different as the won 6-0 against Shrewsbury. Winning their group put them into the final four.
Unfortunately, their unbeaten streak ended with a 2-0 semi-final loss against a very strong Newton team.
Congratulations on an enormous accomplishment for these 7th grade players. A very exciting and proud weekend for the WYSA Grade 7-1 players.
