LIBRARY LINEUP: Tickets On Sale For Comedy Night Featuring Steve Bjork

WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a list of FREE upcoming programs for adults, teens and kids at the Wilmington Memorial Library.

Registration begins 30 days prior to the event. Please register online using our Calendar of Events at or by calling (978) 694-2099 (for Adult) or (978) 694-2098 (for Children/Teen). Please note we request registration for programs that are marked *RR. Thank you to the Friends of the Library for funding support for library programs!

Adult Events

Opportunities at Middlesex Community College*RR
Monday, June 26, 10 am

Jennifer Migliozzi, Assistant Director of Admissions at Middlesex Community College, will discuss opportunities available at Middlesex for job seekers and career changers, such as certificate programs and online degree programs, and assist those interested in the application process.

Pints + Pages Book Group*RR
Thursday, July 6, 7 pm

Featured book: Before the Fall by Noah Hawley
Location: Bertucci’s, Reading
This social book group geared towards readers in their 20’s and 30’s meets on the first Thursday of every other month.  Librarians from the Wilmington and Reading Public Libraries host this book discussion.  Pick up a copy of the book at the library and join them for a lively discussion!

Tickets on Sale for After Hours Comedy Night
Friday, July 21, 7 pm; Doors open at 6:45 pm

Enjoy an evening of clean comedy and refreshment with Wilmington’s own Steve Bjork, who the Boston Globe called one of the biggest names in Boston comedy. Along with Steve will be a second Boston comedian. Ticket price includes a beer (a selection of summer beers will be available) and snacks.  Steve will sell and sign copies of his book, Almost Domesticated, at the event. Tickets are $15 each and are on sale at the main services desk. (Must be 21 years old).

Collaborative Mural Art Project
Monday, June 26
Ages 18 months-2: 9:30 am
Ages 3-6: 10:30 am
Grades 1-5: 3 pm
Help us create a mural inspired by our summer reading theme, Build a Better World! The finished artwork will be on display in the library all summer long.

Building: Tall Ships and Pirate Tales *RR
Monday, June 26, 6:30 pm
Ahoy! People don’t just build on land. They build on water, too! Set sail with the Sciencetellers on a thrilling action-packed adventure about a crew of quirky pirates marooned on a desert island. They must find a way to construct a ship before all hope is lost at sea!  Throughout the story we will explore the incredible science behind clouds, combustion, air pressure, scientific variables and more! Ages 4+

Build a Better World Preschool Storytime: Community Helpers
Tuesday, June 27, 10 am
Come listen to books about community helpers and make a fun craft.
Space is limited.  Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.  Ages 3-6

Paper Bag Project Runway *RR
Tuesday, June 27, 6:30 pm (Limit 24)
Using recycled materials in the style of Project Runway’s Unconventional Challenge, contestants will create outrageous outerwear in teams. Culminating in a runway show, guest judges will declare a winning team who will receive a gift card to The Crafting Closet. Grades 4-8

Travel Club: Spain *RR
Tuesday, June 27, 3 pm
Join us as we explore the food, language, and culture of Spain. We’ll play games, do a craft, and eat popular Brazilian food.  Grades 1-3

Pokémon Dodgeball *RR
Wednesday, June 28, 10 am
Join Mastermind Adventures for a dodgeball game inspired by Pokémon Go! at Yentile Farm field. Please wear sneakers and sunscreen!  Grades 1-3

Storytimes in the Sun: Silver Lake

Even Muggles can play the Wizarding World’s most famous game! Mastermind Adventures presents an introductory course at Yentile Farm field. Please wear sneakers and sunscreen! Grades 4-8

Library News

Holiday Hours
The library will close at 5 pm on Thursday, June 29 and on Monday, July 3. The library will be closed on Tuesday, July 4. Please note that the library will be closed on Saturdays beginning July 1 until after Labor Day.

Library Page Applications
The library is accepting applications for library page positions for openings that will be available in mid- August. Applicants for this position should be 16 years of age or turning 16 in the fall. Please stop by the library to pick up an application.
