WILMINGTON, MA — Here are TEN things you need to know in Wilmington for Wednesday, June 7, 2017.
#1) According to the National Weather Service, Wilmington will see a slight chance of showers before 10am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 68. North wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
#2) The Wilmington Conservation Commission meets at 7pm in the Wilmington Town Hall (Room 9). Read the agenda HERE.
#3) Wilmington Pop Warner is holding its final in-person registration session for interested football players and cheerleaders, ages 7 to 15, from 6pm to 8pm, in the Wilmington Town Hall Auditorium. #4) Into Action Recovery, which is hoping to open a sober house in Tewksbury to benefit area residents, is holding its First Annual Golf Tournament and BBQ today at the Tewksbury Country Club. While the tournament spaces are filled, there is still room at the BBQ which takes place at 1pm. The cost is $20. There will be raffles for Red Sox tickets and memorabilia, a fire pit, canopy tent, mountain bike, flat screen smart TV, gas grill, Fit Bit, and more. They also will hold a sports auction with plenty of New England Patriots Super Bowl items! Wilmington native David Hanley will be speaking. #6) The Wilmington Senior Center (15 School Street) is holding its normal Wednesday activities:
- SBF Exercise (9:45am)
- Special Exercise (11am)
- Country Line Dancing (1pm)
- Fun Singers rehearsal (3pm)
- Gentle Yoga (3:45pm)

#7) The Town’s Yardwaste Center, located on Old Main Street, off of Main Street at the Woburn line, is open from 8am to 2pm. This is one of just two dates that the Center is open this month. Residents need to purchase a punch-card for $15 in order to enter the yardwaste center. Punch-cards will be available for purchase through the Collector’s Office at Town Hall and will allow up to 5 vehicle trips to the Yardwaste Center per card. NO GRASS CLIPPINGS OR STUMPS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Commercial vehicles will not be allowed. Make sure to bring photo identification to show you are a Wilmington resident.
#8) The Wilmington Police Department offers safety seat installs at the Wilmington Public Safety Building (1 Adelaide Street) every Wednesday, 10am-2pm. No appointment is necessary, but calling ahead at 978-658-5071 is recommended. Learn more HERE.
#9) The Friends of the Wilmington Memorial Library’s Book Store Next Door (183 Middlesex Avenue) is open from 10am to 4pm. All books are $2 or less! Every penny of every sale benefits the Wilmington Memorial Library. Learn more HERE.
#10) After yesterday’s rainouts, WHS Girls Tennis Team and WHS Softball Team are both competing in second-round playoff action today. The WHS Girls Tennis team takes on Wayland High at 3:30pm in Wayland. The WHS Softball Team hosts Swampscott High (a #16 seed who upset the #1 seed) at 6pm at Town Park. Good luck to both teams!
