10 Things You Need To Know In Wilmington Today (June 3, 2017)

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are TEN things you need to know in Wilmington for Saturday, June 3, 2017.

#1) According to the National Weather Service, Wilmington will see a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 68. Northwest wind around 8 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

#2) The Wilmington Recreation Department is sponsoring the 35th Annual Fishing Derby at Silver Lake from 9am to noon at Town Beach. Participants must register in the Bath House. Prizes will be awarded for the Heaviest Bass and Heaviest Non-Bass in both age groups. The cost to participate in the Derby is $5 for those ages 18 and over, and $2 for anyone age 17 and under. Night crawlers will be available for purchase. There will be shore fishing only – no boats. No fishing license is required for this event only.

#3) The public is invited to the Shawsheen Valley Technical High School ‘s Spring Festival from 11am to 4pm at the Tech (100 Cook Street, Billerica). The event will feature vendors, food (sausage, hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken fingers, cotton candy, friend dough and an ice cream truck), DJ, various fun activities, water balloon dodge ball, and much more. Admission is FREE.  Prices will vary for food and activities. Proceeds will benefit the Shawsheen Tech’s Class of 2020.

#4) The Wilmington Council for the Arts is holding its 37th Annual Art Exhibition from 1pm to 4pm at the Wilmington Arts Center (219 Middlesex Avenue). Learn more HERE.

#5) The Wilmington Memorial Library (175 Middlesex Avenue) is holding THREE programs today:

  • Writing Group (9:15am-11:30am)
  • Drop-In Baby Times (9:30am-10:15am)
  • Dads & Donuts (10:30am-11:30am)

#6) There is a Giant Yard Sale at 15 Jacob Streets from 9am to 2pm.

#7) GOOD LUCK to Tate Kennedy and Lexi Luna competing at All States at Bridgewater State University today.

#8) Pacific Grove (211 Lowell Street) is hosting Karaoke with Winnell Entertainment at 8pm.

#9) The Friends of the Wilmington Memorial Library’s Book Store Next Door (183 Middlesex Avenue) is open from 10am to 4pm. All books are $2 or less!  Every penny of every sale benefits the Wilmington Memorial Library. Learn more HERE.
