WILMINGTON, MA — Y12SR® —The Yoga of 12-Step Recovery — is a unique mind-and-body practice that is gaining recognition throughout the U.S. and abroad for its effectiveness in reducing relapse for people in recovery for addictions.
Now offered at the Yoga Loft, Wilmington’s premier yoga studio and yoga school, the sessions are open to anyone dealing with their own addictive behaviors or affected by the behavior of others.
Held throughout the US and England, Y12SR meetings are a growing grassroots effort to aid those living in recovery. A number of addiction recovery treatment centers, hospitals, correctional institutions, and yoga studios offer this additional tool that pairs the practical tools of 12-Step programs with the traditions and science of yoga to create a model that addresses addiction on the physical, mental, and spiritual levels.
Developed by Nikki Myers, MBA, a yoga therapist, Somatic Experiencing practitioner and Certified Addictions Recovery Specialist in Indianapolis, The Yoga of 12-Step Recovery is born from her personal struggle with addiction.
Y12SR will meet monthly on Friday nights. The next meeting is Friday, June 16, 2017 at 7:15 pm at the Yoga Loft, 3 Lopez Rd, Wilmington, MA. Check the website for details or contact Kacy Zurkus, Y12SR Leader, firstname.lastname@example.org
Each meeting is a combined sharing circle followed by a themed, restorative yoga class with meditation. There is no fee to participate in the meeting and yoga class. Voluntary contributions are accepted with proceeds donated to a non-profit serving the local addiction recovery community.
