WILMINGTON, MA — Beat the heat! Don’t wait until it’s too late for you to plan your summer recreation activities!
For the kids:
- Evening Tennis Lessons, Wednesdays, June 14 – July 19 (no 7/5): For $60, this 5-week program will teach basic tennis skills. Kids will play mini-matches to improve their games. Entering Kindergartners – Grade 1 will play from 5 – 6 p.m., and children entering Grade 2 – 3 will play from 6 – 7 p.m.
- Skyhawks Sports Clinics, Mon – Fri, June 19 – 23: For $52, the Tiny-Hawk program (8:30 – 9:15 a.m.) is available to 3 & 4 year-olds. Kids will be introduced to soccer and basketball and will learn balance, hand/eye coordination and other skills while they play games tailored to their attention spans. The Mini-Hawk program is open to 4 – 6 year-olds ($115, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.). This multi-sport program was developed to give children a positive first step into athletics. The essentials of basketball, t-ball and soccer are taught in a safe, structured environment with a big focus on fun.
For the adults:
- Yoga for the Full-Figured Woman: For $85, this popular 8-week class introduces beginners to yoga in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Movements are modified for a non-intimidating approach to improving your health. While this is a beginner level class, all levels of experience are accepted and many attendees continue to sign up time after time! There are two sessions available: Mondays, 6/5 – 7/31 (no 7/3), 4 – 5 p.m. or Thursdays, 6/1 – 7/27 (no 7/6), 7:15 – 8:15 p.m.
- Savvy Social Security Planning, Thursday, June 8, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.: Learn Social Security planning as you consider retirement options. This program will address topics such as when to file, advantages of delaying benefits, spousal benefits and much more. While this class is free, pre-registration is required. Register online on the Recreation or Library websites.
