WILMINGTON, MA — The WHS Varsity Baseball team defeated Greater Lawrence Tech, 5-0, at Scanlon Field on Saturday, May 27 in the semi-finals of the Dick Scanlon Memorial Tournament.
Wilmington starter Darin “Red Dog” MacEacheron pitched 6 scoreless innings for his 3rd win of the year. MacEacheron struck out 9, walked none, and scattered just 4 hits. Closer Graham Smith pitched a scoreless 7th inning, ending the game with a 6-4-3 doubleplay.
The offense was led by Smith (3-for-3, double, 2 runs scored, 1 RBI) and Matt Rideout (1-for-3, double, 3 RBI). Dan Gracia (RBI), Dave Woods, Stephen Bonish and Tom Worob all added singles of their own.
NEXT UP: The Wildcats (15-4) will play in their 4th straight Scanlon Tournament final against Revere on Sunday, May 28 at 3pm in Wilmington. (Revere beat Winchester, 5-2, in semi-finals action.) The Wildcats will wait to find out their State Tournament first round opponent when seedings are revealed on Tuesday afternoon.
