Cornhole To Benefit National MS Society At Wilmington Knights of Columbus Hall On June 17

WILMINGTON, MA — Team Sweaty Already is back again for the eigth straight year to raise funds and awareness about Mulitple Sclerosis. The team is participating in the MS Challenge Walk—a 3-Day, 50-mile walk that is taking place on September 8-10th in Cape Cod. Last year, Team Sweaty Already raised over $12,000 bringing the 7 year total to $56,000. Proceeds from the fifth annual Bags and Beers Cornhole Tournament solely support the National MS Society’s Greater New England Chapter and the MS Challenge Walk.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. More than 2.3 million people are affected by MS worldwide. Most are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, and about two thirds are women. The cause of MS and how to stop progression, restore function, and ultimately end MS forever, are the subjects of intensive worldwide research. Team Sweaty Already wont stop until a cure is found and more therapies and treatments are avaialble.

Tara Tonello and Shelley Kresser (formerly both Hardimon’s who grew up in Wilmington) started fundraising in 2010 in honor of their mom, Susan Hardimon, who was diagnosed in 2003. They participate and fundraise for the 3-day, 50- mile MS Challenge Walk, along with their husbands Brian and Erik and cousin Marissa to give back and honor their mom Susan and the many others they know for their strength, bravery, and determination they show each day facing this unpredictable disease. Their team, feels “so furtunate to be able to walk each year in honor of those who can’t. 50 miles over 3 days is no easy task. You walk 20 miles on Friday, 20 miles on Saturday and 10 on Sunday, but it’s nothing compared to what those living with MS have to face each day.”

Their annual fundraiser to raise money for their fundraising requirement to participate in the walk is taking place on Saturday, June 17th at the Knights of Columbus in Wilmington. This is a cornhole/bean bag toss tournament. All proceeds from “Bags and Beers” go to the team’s MS Challenge Walk fundraising efforts. Team donation amount (2 players) is $50. There will be other fun activities, raffles, food and music there for those who might not want to play, but still want come out to show your support.  Every dollar we raise helps the National MS Society get one step closer to finding a cure and allows them to provide additional programs to help those living with MS today”  Says Tara Tonello
