WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Fourth of July Committee has just released the schedule for the 2017 Wilmington Fun on the Fourth celebration.
The celebration will be held on and around the Wilmington Town Common from Thursday, June 29 to Sunday, July 2.
The carnival, run this year by Cushing Amusements, will run from 5pm to 9pm on Thursday; 5pm to 9pm on Friday; noon to 10pm on Saturday; and 1pm to 10pm on Sunday. Cushing Amusements, taking over for Fiesta Shows, promises to provide great ride specials.
The spectacular fireworks display will take place on Sunday, July 2 at 9:30pm.
In addition to the popular Food Court, Community Meals will be provided by the Rotary Club (Hamburger & Hot Dogs on Thursday); Wilmington Sons of Italy Jr. Lodge and Wilmington Figure Skating Club (Chinese Food on Friday); Knights of Columbus (Pancakes, Waffles & Eggs Breakfast on Saturday); Wilmington Kiwanis Club (Ham & Beans on Saturday); and Wilmington Minutemen (Pancakes and Sausages on Sunday).
Longtime traditions — like the 3-on-3 basketball competition, horseshoes, road race, ladies 2-mile walk, hospital bed race, and blueberry pie eating contest — all return. Wiffle ball returns after a hiatus for several years.
A new tradition — a cornhole tournament on Family Day — will begin this year.
The Committee also released the schedule for the Wilmington Family Day on Saturday, July 1.
The Wilmington Fourth of July Committee will be releasing additional information regarding these events in the coming weeks.
