WILMINGTON, MA — Here are TEN things you need to know in Wilmington for Saturday, May 13, 2017.
#1) According to the National Weather Service, Wilmington may see some rain, mainly after 3pm. Cloudy, with a high near 56. Calm wind becoming southeast 5 to 8 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
#2) Why are flags at half-staff in Wilmington? Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker has the flag be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings from sunrise until sunset on Monday, May 15th, 2017 in honor of National Peace Officers Memorial Day.
#3) The Yentile Farm Recreational Facility will have its official launch with an Open House from 10am to 3pm. All activities will be held rain or shine.
The occasion will begin with a flag raising ceremony at 10:00 am followed by comments from Yentile Farm Development Committee Chair, Judy O’Connell, and dedicated members of the community who helped bring this facility to life. After a warm welcome and ribbon cutting, games and activities will commence on the artificial turf field, event lawn, and basketball courts. Refreshments and snacks will be available thanks to generous donations by the Rotary Club of Wilmington and Wilmington Sons of Italy. A DJ sponsored by the Wilmington Community Fund will provide music for the occasion. The Open House format will allow attendees to come and go throughout the day.
As the event is expected to be well-attended, parking at the site will be limited. Additional parking will be available in a designated area at Textron, 201 Lowell Street, and in the two lots adjacent to Textron’s tennis courts (see map). For the safety of both pedestrians and motorists, attendees are asked not to park on Route 129 (Lowell Street), or Route 38 (Main Street).
