WHS SOFTBALL: Wildcats Lose Heartbreaker, 2-1

WILMINGTON, MA — The WHS Varsity Softball team lost 2-1 to Burlington High on Monday, May 1 at Town Park.

Both teams’ bats were held in check during the game, with Burlington pitchers striking out 15 batters and Wilmington pitchers striking out 14 batters. Burlington struck first, scoring two unearned runs in the first inning.  Wilmington had a great scoring opportunity in the fourth inning, after Jen Dovidio led off with a single and stole second base, but she was stranded.  The Wildcats finally got on the board in seventh inning, but left the tying and game-winning runs in scoring position.

UP NEXT: The Wildcats (5-2) next play Arlington High on Wednesday, May 3 at 3:45pm at Arlington High.
