WHS SOFTBALL: Wildcats Suffer First Loss Of Season, Stand At 3-1

WILMINGTON, MA — The WHS Varsity Softball team suffered its first defeat of the season with a 5-0 road loss to Wakefield High on Monday, April 24.

Wildcat Adele Burton went 3-for-3 in the losing cause.  Wilmington had a great scoring opportunity in the fifth inning when Liz Gordon hit was initially ruled a triple — plating Adele Burton — but the umps changed the call to a ground rule double, negating the run.

The game got away from the Wildcats in the fifth inning, which is when Wakefield scored all of its five runs.  Coach Audrey pointed to mental and physical errors, as well as 2 hit batsman, that turned the tide of the game towards Wakefield.

UP NEXT: The Wildcats (3-1) next play Stoneham High on Friday, April 28 at 3:45pm at Stoneham High School.
