WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington Public Schools and the Wilmington Educational Foundation held a W.H.A.M. Walk (Wilmington Healthy Actively Moving Day) on Monday, April 24, 2017 during the 5th Annual “Every Kid Healthy Celebration Week.” The event highlighted the importance of Wilmington students’ health and wellness.
The Every Kid Healthy national movement celebration will promote and reinforce the WPS beliefs in healthy eating, physical activity, nutrition education and physical education for academic success.
Students and families were invited to participate in W.H.A.M. Wilmington Healthy Actively Moving Day at their child’s school. Each school (K-8) held a 30-minute walk around their school buildings. The walking demonstrated the importance of daily physical activity for health and wellness.
In the weeks leading up to the W.H.A.M. Walk, students were encouraged to ask a family relative to sponsor their participation in the walk during the school day.
All walk proceeds will benefit the Wilmington Educational Foundation, which provides support for the grant programs offered to all staff and schools in the district.
