15 Things You Need To Know In Wilmington Today (April 18, 2017)

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are FIFTEEN things you need to know in Wilmington for Tuesday, April 18, 2017.

#1) Please take a moment to remember Wilmington fallen hero Sean Collier, who passed away four years ago today.

#2) According to the National Weather Service, it will be partly sunny in Wilmington, with a high near 50. Calm wind becoming northeast 5 to 8 mph in the morning.

#3) The Wilmington Board of Health meets at 5:30pm at Town Hall (Room 9). Read the agenda HERE.

#4) The Wilmington Board of Library Trustees meets at 7pm at Wilmington Memorial Library (Room 9). Read the agenda HERE.

#5) Transwestern (200 Ballardvale Road) is hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive from 10am to 3pm.  Learn more HERE.

#6) Action Ambulance (844 Woburn Street) is holding a Job Fair from 8:30am to 3pm. Learn more HERE.

#7) REMINDER: All Wilmington dogs must be registered with the Town Clerk’s Office by today. Learn how HERE.

#8) REMINDER: The Town’s water main flushing program begins TODAY. The flushing program will be conducted Monday through Friday, from 8pm to until 12am. The program will take approximately 8 weeks to complete. Please be aware that since flushing scours and removes minerals that have accumulated in the mains, residents may experience discolored or rusty water during the program. The water IS safe to drink. However, we suggest that our residents check the water before doing laundry to avoid staining clothing and other items. Running the cold water for a few minutes should learn up any discoloration. If you have any questions or problems with your water, please call the Water Department at 978-658-4711.

#9) The Wilmington Memorial Library (175 Middlesex Avenue) is holding TWO programs:

  • Fairy Tale Party (10am-11am)
  • Movie Night — Sing (6:30pm)

#10) The Wilmington Senior Center (15 School Street) will be holding its usual Tuesday programs:

  • 9:00am — Zumba
  • 10:30am — Aerobics
  • 12:30pm — Wii Bowling

#12) The Tewksbury/Wilmington Elks (777 South Street, Tewksbury) holds bingo — open to the public — every Tuesday at 6:45pm. Doors open at 5pm. Pizza, hot dog and pastries are sold. Free coffee.

#13) Angels In Motion meets every Tuesday, from 9:30am to 2:30pm, at the Wilmington Knights of Columbus Hall (112 Middlesex Avenue).  The club provides a great opportunity for seniors to meet new friends or reacquaint with old ones.  Spend the day playing cards, board games, or just chatting with folks!  A luncheon is served as noon.  There are NO fees. The KofC Hall is handicap accessible.

#14) Red Heat Tavern is holding its weekly bar trivia (pub quiz) with Geeks Who Drink from 7pm to 9pm. Learn more HERE.

#15) Ristuccia Arena (190 Main Street) is offering stick and puck skating for $10 per person — 10am to noon (ages 13 and under) and noon to 2pm (ages 14 and up).
