WILMINGTON, MA — Here are TWELVE things you need to know in Wilmington for Saturday, April 8, 2017.
#1) According to the National Weather Service, it will be cloudy in Wilmington, with a high near 46. Northwest wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
#2) Wilmington School Committee candidate Kathi O’Donoghue is holding a ‘Meet & Greet’ event at Sunrise Kitchen (355 Middlesex Avenue) from 8am to 10am.
#3) Wilmington School Committee candidate Amy Largenton is holding a ‘Meet & Greet’ event at Panera Bread (228 Main Street, Wilmington) from 9am to 10am.
#4) Wilmington School Committee candidate Jenn Bryson is holding a ‘Meet & Greet’ event at a supporter’s home (open to the public) at 41 Apache Way from 7pm to 9pm.
#5) From 9am to 3pm, there will be a truck at the Wilmington United Methodist Church (87 Church Street) to collect all your knick-knacks and stuff that you no longer need. Any items are appreciated, including soft items — like clothing, bedding, curtains, and stuffed animals — and hard items — like dishes, pans, and home décor. These items will be donated to Savers who will in turn pay the WUMC Youth Program per pound for the items donated. Funds raised will go towards youth mission trips.
#6) Wilmington High School is a Pops Concert on Saturday, April 8 at 7pm in the WHS Auditorium (159 Church Street). The concert features the Wildcat Honors Jazz Rock Ensemble, with special guests — Jr. Jazz Band from Wilmington Middle School, WHS Soundscape, and WHS Strings. Tickets cost $5 for adults. The evening is FREE for students, senior citizens, and school staff.
#7) The Boston Metro Hi Railers Club will have its Spring Open House from 10am to 4pm at its clubhouse (5 Waltham Street, Wilmington). The club will have on display and operating many of the more than 100 engines and 200 passenger and freight cars owned the members and the club. Admission is $10 per family, $5 for single adults, and children under 10 are free when accompanied by an adult. Refreshment will be available.
#8) The Boston Rodeo Frontier Days will be held at 2pm and 8pm at the Shriners Auditorium (99 Fordham Road, Wilmington). There will be pony rides, live bands, mechanical bull rides, hay rides and monster truck rides. A free BBQ Country Fest will be held on both days from 4pm to 7pm. General admission is $30 for adults (13 and up), $10 for children (6-12), with free admission for children (5 and under).
