WILMINGTON, MA — Here are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for the week of Sunday, March 12, 2017.
Sunday, March 12:
- A Glen Road caller reported his garage doors were kicked in sometime over night. (2:20pm)
- A caller reported a dead deer near a parking lot on Cross Street. Police responded. “Animal” was not a deer, but a fake coyote used to keep geese off the grass. (3:41pm)
- Police issued a verbal warning to a driver for parking in the Fire Lane outside of Market Basket in the Wilmington Plaza. (4:38pm, 6:31pm)
- A Bond Street caller reported his neighbor’s elderly dog has been outside barking for hours in 20 degree weather. Caller claimed it’s an ongoing issue. Police responded. Owner claimed dog was outside for just 10 minutes. Owner claimed they’re trying to find a new owner for the dog since they just had a baby. The original caller is willing to take possession of the dog. Animal Control Officer will follow up with both parties to transfer ownership. (7:27pm)
- A blue 2001 Ford Taurus and a gray 2004 Dodge Ram Truck were involved in a crash at Savers on Main Street. No injuries noted. Both vehicles towed. (8:09pm)
- A possible skimmer may have been placed at Speedway in Main Street after a credit card fraud was reported. (8:21pm)
Monday, March 13:
- Police spotted a man loading fire wood into his vehicle at M&M Chimney on Main Street. Man stated he had permission from owner and had business card in possession. Police sent man on his way and will check back with owner in morning to confirm permission was granted. (12:34am)
- Police moved several vehicles out of the fire lane in front of Market Basket in the Wilmington Plaza. (1:11pm)
- A Cedarscrest Road caller reported he drove away with a leather binder on top of his car. He requested to be notified if it is located. (3:14pm)
- Kevin MacDonald was removed from the Selectmen’s Meeting at Town Hall by police after he was ruled out of order numerous times by the Chair and refused to withdraw from the meeting. (8:18pm)
- A man in a white van entered a yard on Linda Road. When confronted by homeowner, man said he had the wrong home. Police responded. Man was working for an HVAC company and had the wrong address. Situation checked OK. (9:25pm)
Tuesday, March 14:
- A plow driver reported a sewer grate was completely lifted off and left open near Greg’s Roast Beef on Main Street. Mass Highway and DPW notified. (12:54pm)
- Police received tree debris from the roadway on Burlington Avenue. (2:43pm)
- Police covered an open manhole on Woburn Street. (2:44pm)
- Police received report of a fallen tree taking down wires on Park Street. Police notified RMLD. (3:22pm)
- Police received report that a tree branch snapped, scraping cars beneath it on Concord Street. (3:34pm)
- A fallen tree struck a home on Auburn Avenue, leaving a hole in the roof. House was deemed structurally sound. (3:57pm)
- Police received report that a tree fell in a Brentwood Avenue yard and took wires down. (3:58pm)
- A Royal Street caller reported his neighbor was plowing snow from the street into his driveway. Caller claimed it’s been an ongoing issue. Police responded and spoke with both parties. (4:13pm)
- Live wires fell from a West Street home. RMLD was notified. (4:14pm)
- A fallen tree took down wires across the roadway on Chapman Avenue. Police notified RMLD and DPW. (4:22pm)
- Police responded to wires sparking and a small fire on top of pole on Brattle Street. (4:28pm)
- A caller reported her mother is receiving scam calls from a business coming up on caller ID as “Lifeline Ambulance.” Number came back to a telemarketer group, “QuinStreet.” (5:57pm)
- A transformer blew on Church Street. RMLD notified. (5:58pm)
- Police received an American flag from a snapped flagpole at Meineke Muffler on Main Street. (6:14pm)
- A green 2008 Mazda drove off the road and was towed. (7:04pm)
Wednesday, March 15:
- A gray 2005 Chrysler Town and Country got stuck on the train tracks near Eastern Bank. Police notified Keolis. Vehicle was eventually cleared from tracks. (5:15am)
- Police issued a written warning to a driver for failure to remove snow from the windshield. (1:17pm)
- A brown 2008 Honda Civic, black 2004 Chevy Silverado and 2004 Honda Accord were involved in a crash at Lowell Street and Strout Avenue. No injuries noted. 1 airbag deployment. 2 vehicle towed. Police issued a citation to one driver for operating a vehicle after a license revocation. (3:18pm)
- An employee from Milestone Group Home on High Street reported two juveniles just walked off the property. (4:48pm)
- A tree fell onto a vehicle on Horseshoe Lane, damaging the trunk and back window. (6:38pm)
- Two juvenile females stole the tip jar from Wilmington House of Pizza on Main Street and took off on foot. [No further details provided, but it appears both unnamed juveniles were eventually arrested.] (6:40pm)
- Michael V. Zarrella (57, Wilmington) was arrested for an OUI Liquor (3rd Offense); Negligent Operation of Motor Vehicle; Marked Lanes Violation; and Speeding. Zarrella struck a stone wall and got stuck in a snowbank at Mink Run Road and Hopkins Street. (11:28pm)
Thursday, March 16:
- A caller reported his gray 2004 Lexus was stolen when he went inside Sonny’s Mobile on the Run on Lowell Street. Police put a BOLO out and drove the caller to his work. (6:11am)
- A caller reported approximately 10 minutes prior to calling, a male party entered the women’s bathroom at Burger King while she was in the stall, looked over the stall, and said he was in the wrong bathroom. Caller gave police a description. Police responded and requested security footagefrom Burger King and Red Heat Tavern. (9:51am)
- A police officer stood by while a disgruntled ex-employee retrieved his personal belongings at Townsend Welding on Woburn Street. (10:12am)
- A 2-vehicle crash at Cross Street and Main Street led to one person being taken to the hospital. Both vehicles were towed. (10:36am)
- Police issued 4 parking citations in the MBTA Parking Lot on Main Street. (12:17pm)
- A walk-in party reported front lawn damage by a town snow plow. Police notified DPW. (12:18pm)
- Police responded to a disturbance between customer and manager at Dollar Tree. Manager stated the involved party’s children were opening packages. Manager asked them to leave and there was an argument. Police restored. (6:45pm)
- A caller at Heav’nly Donuts requested a police officer due to employees being harassed for interview by a news film crew. (8:04pm)
Friday, March 17:
- Police arrested Matthew Furlong (29, Wilmington) for open and gross lewdness. (10:10am) [Read more HERE.]
- A Morse Avenue caller reported receiving a scam call. A male party with a heavy accent claimed to be from the U.S. Government and had money for the caller. When caller asked to stop calling, man started using foul language. (1:28pm)
- A caller reported a treadmill was left in the roadway on Lime Street. Treadmill was moved into a snowbank and was no longer an issue. (2:36pm)
- Enoch Mayfields (48, Warwick, RI) was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license. Mayfields was involved in a 2-car crash at Sonny’s Mobil on the Run on Lowell Street. (2:43pm)
- A missing juvenile was reported from Milestone Group Home on High Street. (4:36pm)
- A black 2004 Lexus struck a guardrail on Wildwood Street near the cemetery. Vehicle was towed. No injuries. DPW notified for damage to guardrail. (5:46pm)
- Richard J. Dillon (47, Lawrence) was arrested for an OUI Liquor (2nd Offense). Driver was found passed out in driver’s seat at intersection of Middlesex Avenue and High Street. (10:46pm)
Saturday, March 18:
- Police assisted with a vehicle lockout at Market Basket. (7:32am)
- Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire on Washington Avenue. House (garage door and vinyl siding) was also damaged due to the fire. (11:19am)
- Police conducted fire lane enforcement at Market Basket. (12:23pm)
- A nursing supervisor at CareOne at Wilmington reported possible past abuse issues involving a patient and a family member. (1:50pm)
- Paxton Reid Nicholas (25, Dover, NH) was placed in protective custody. A cab driver reported Nicholas refused to pay after being a passenger. (7:38pm)
- A Mink Run Road caller reported three men came to her house caroling. Police responded. College-aged kids were pulling a prank. (10:07pm)
