12 Things You Need To Know In Wilmington Today (March 7, 2017)

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are TWELVE things you need to know in Wilmington for Tuesday, March 7, 2017.

#1) According to the National Weather Service, Wilmington has a slight chance of snow showers, freezing rain, and sleet before 7am, then a slight chance of freezing rain between 7am and 8am, then a chance of rain showers after 8am. Cloudy, with a high near 51. South wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Little or no snow and sleet accumulation expected.

#2) The Shawsheen/West PAC is holding a fundraiser at LaRosa’s Restaurant (211 Main Street, Wilmington Crossing Plaza) TODAY, from 11am to 8pm. LaRosa’s will donate 10% of your total food order to the Shawsheen/West PAC. Mention the fundraiser prior to ordering in order for the PAC to receive credit. (Tax and gratuity excluded. Payment via previously purchased gift cards excluded.)

#3) The Wilmington Boosters Association is holding a Fundraiser Night at Flatbread Pizza Company (213 Burlington Road, Bedford) TODAY from 5pm to 9pm. A portion of every pizza sale will be donated to the Boosters.  The donation applies to both dine-on AND take-out orders.  No coupons, discounts or promotions are accepted during the fundraiser. No flyer is required.

#4) The Wilmington Board of Health meets at 5:30pm at Wilmington Town Hall (Room 9). Read the agenda HERE.

#6) The Wilmington Memorial Library (175 Middlesex Avenue) is holding THREE programs today:

  • Cookin’ The Books (noon)
  • Art Adventures: Jackson Pollock (3:45pm-4:45pm)
  • Teen Trivia Night (6:30pm-7:30pm)

#7) The Wilmington Senior Center (15 School Street) will be holding its usual Tuesday programs:

  • 9:00am — Zumba
  • 9:00am — Computer Class
  • 10:30am — Aerobics
  • 12:30pm — Wii Bowling

#9) The Tewksbury/Wilmington Elks (777 South Street, Tewksbury) holds bingo — open to the public — every Tuesday at 6:45pm. Doors open at 5pm. Pizza, hot dog and pastries are sold. Free coffee.

#10) Angels In Motion meets every Tuesday, from 9:30am to 2:30pm, at the Wilmington Knights of Columbus Hall (112 Middlesex Avenue).  The club provides a great opportunity for seniors to meet new friends or reacquaint with old ones.  Spend the day playing cards, board games, or just chatting with folks!  A luncheon is served as noon.  There are NO fees. The KofC Hall is handicap accessible.

#11) Red Heat Tavern is holding its weekly bar trivia (pub quiz) with Geeks Who Drink from 7pm to 9pm. Learn more HERE.

#12) The Wilmington Department of Elderly Services is providing free income tax assistance through American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). Wilmington residents ages 60 and older may schedule an appointment by calling the Buzzell Senior Center at 978-657-7595. The program runs every Tuesday from 9am to 1pm through Tuesday, April 11 at the Wilmington Senior Center.
