10 Things You Need To Know In Wilmington Today (March 4, 2017)

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are TEN things you need to know in Wilmington for Saturday, March 4, 2017.

#1) According to the National Weather Service, it will be partly sunny in Wilmington, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 21. Wind chill values as low as -4. Blustery, with a northwest wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 17 to 22 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 39 mph.

#2) Flag Notification: Flags are at half-staff at all state buildings today to honor the following U.S. armed services representatives:

  • MK3 Kristina Lee Cooley, United States Coast Guard, of Feeding Hills, MA, who passed away on February 15, 2017
  • PFC Brian P. Odiorne, United States Army, of Ware, MA, who passed away on February 20, 2017 in Al Anbar Province, Iraq, in support of Operation Inherent Resolve

#3)  Wilmington residents are invited to a night of fun and fundraising for Wilmington 11 year-old Kelly Gonzalez and her family TODAY, from 6pm to midnight, at the American Legion in Burlington (162 Winn Street). Kelly was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a fast-growing tumor on her brain, in October.  She underwent successful brain surgery earlier this month and has begun radiation therapy on her road to recovery. The 18+ event will feature a DJ, a 50/50 raffle, a great selection of silent auction and raffle prizes, catered food from AJ’s Kitchen and LaRosa’s, and a cash bar. Tickets cost $25 at the door.

#4) Shriners Auditorium (99 Fordham Road) will host a gun show featuring 500 tables, on Saturday, March 4, 9am-5pm, and Sunday, March 5, 9am-3pm. Participants can buy, sell and trade sports, antique, and collectible firearms; custom and high quality knives; and various militaria. The general admission fee for adults is not listed, but parking is free and children 12 and under, with an adult, are free.  Learn more HERE. #5) The Wilmington Democratic Town Committee will be holding its caucus TODAY at 10am at the 4th of July Building. The caucus is open to all registered Democrats living in Wilmington who are interested in being delegates to the Massachusetts Democratic State Convention. #6) Congressman Seth Moulton is holding a Town Hall nearby at the Reading Public Library (64 Middlesex Avenue, Reading) from 3:30pm to 4:30pm. Learn more HERE.

#7) The Wilmington Memorial Library (175 Middlesex Avenue) is holding TWO programs today:

  • Writing Group (9:15am)
  • Dads & Donuts (10:30am-11:30am)
