12 Things You Need To Know In Wilmington Today (February 28, 2017)

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are TWELVE things you need to know in Wilmington for Tuesday, February 28, 2017.

#1) According to the National Weather Service, there is a slight chance of showers in Wilmington after 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 53. Calm wind becoming southeast around 6 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

#2) The Wilmington Board of Assessors meets at 2pm at Wilmington Town Hall (Small Conference Room). Read the agenda HERE.

#3) The Wilmington Bylaw Study Committee meets at 6:30pm at Wilmington Town Hall (Room 9). Read the agenda HERE.

#4) The Wilmington Finance Committee is holding a budget hearing for the Library, Recreation Department and Elderly Services at 7pm at the Wilmington Memorial Library (Banda Room). Read the agenda HERE.

#5) The Shawsheen Tech School Committee meets at 7:30pm at the Shawsheen Tech (Conference Room). Read the agenda HERE.

#6) The Wilmington Memorial Library (175 Middlesex Avenue) is holding THREE programs today:

  • Storytime for Three Year Olds (9:30am)
  • Storytime for Four & Five Year Olds (10:30am)
  • Creative Writing Skill Building (7pm)

#7) The Wilmington Senior Center (15 School Street) will be holding its usual Tuesday programs:

  • 9:00am — Zumba
  • 9:00am — Computer Class
  • 10:30am — Aerobics

#9) The Tewksbury/Wilmington Elks (777 South Street, Tewksbury) holds bingo — open to the public — every Tuesday at 6:45pm. Doors open at 5pm. Pizza, hot dog and pastries are sold. Free coffee.

#10) Angels In Motion meets every Tuesday, from 9:30am to 2:30pm, at the Wilmington Knights of Columbus Hall (112 Middlesex Avenue).  The club provides a great opportunity for seniors to meet new friends or reacquaint with old ones.  Spend the day playing cards, board games, or just chatting with folks!  A luncheon is served as noon.  There are NO fees. The KofC Hall is handicap accessible.

#11) Red Heat Tavern is holding its weekly bar trivia (pub quiz) with Geeks Who Drink from 7pm to 9pm. Learn more HERE.

#12) The Wilmington Department of Elderly Services is providing free income tax assistance through American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). Wilmington residents ages 60 and older may schedule an appointment by calling the Buzzell Senior Center at 978-657-7595. The program runs every Tuesday from 9am to 1pm through Tuesday, April 11 at the Wilmington Senior Center.
