WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington-based “Project Valentine” is a handmade valentine card drive that benefits area seniors. Organizer and Wilmington resident Jen Kennedy provides blank cards to volunteers — children, students, scouts, etc. — who turn them into valentines, which are collected and delivered to local senior centers, assisted living facilities, rehabs, and nursing homes.
This year, “Project Valentine” created and distributed 3,650 valentines to seniors. Over its five years, the drive has delivered nearly 10,000 cards.
According to Kennedy, the following organizations received valentines this year: Wilmington Senior Center, Wilmington Meals on Wheels, Woodbriar of Wilmington , Care One Wilmington , Windsor Place, Tewksbury Senior Center, Tewksbury Meals on Wheels, Peregrine’s Landing, Blaire House of Tewksbury , Bayberry Assisted Living, Woburn Senior Center, Woburn MOW, Windrose at Woburn, Aberjona Nursing Center, Winchester Nursing Center, Wingate of Reading, Hathorne Hill , Carleton-Willard , Bearhill Nursing Center, Northwood, Billerica Crossings, Brightview Concord River, Chelmsford Arms, Royal Braintree, Lifecare Center of Billerica, Meadowview, Greenwood of Wakefield, Courtyard Nursing Center, Glen Ridge Nursing Center, Prescott House, Academy Manor, Sutton Hill, Wingate of Belvidere, American Legion Homeless Vets, Wilmington Safety Building, and individual homes.
