10 Things You Need To Know In Wilmington Today (January 28, 2017)

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are 10 things you need to know in Wilmington for Saturday, January 28, 2017.

#1) According to the National Weather Service, it will be party sunny in Wilmington, with a high near 41. West wind 7 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

#2) An a cappella concert featuring the band ARORA, the Boston University BosTones, and some high school groups will be performing as part of the N.E. Voices Showcase at 7pm at Wilmington High School (159 Church Street). Open to the public. Tickets cost $15 in advance online and $20 at the door. Learn more HERE.

#3) The second day of the Suburban Boston Spring Home Show takes place from 10am to 8pm at Shriners Auditorium (99 Fordham Road). Free admission. Free parking. Learn more HERE.

#4) Pacific Grove (211 Lowell Street) is hosting Karaoke from Winnell Entertainment at 8pm.

#5) Several Wilmington High School teams are in action today:

  • 7:30am – BOYS Varsity Wrestling @ Multiple Opponents (Middlesex Liberty & Freedom Invitational)
  • 8:00am – GIRLS Varsity Cheerleading vs Multiple Opponents (Invitational @ WHS)
  • 2:00pm – GIRLS Varsity Ice Hockey vs Winchester (at Ristuccia)
  • 4:00pm – BOYS Varsity Ice Hockey  @ Winchester

#6) Wilmington Youth Hockey players who wear the jerseys to the WHS Girls Varsity Ice Hockey game at 2pm at Ristuccia will get in FOR FREE.

#7) The Wilmington Youth Center (126 Middlesex Avenue, Villanova Hall) is open from 7pm to 9:30pm. The Center is for 6th, 7th and 8th graders who live in Wilmington.  Learn more about the Center, and how you can sign your child up, HERE.

#8) The Friends of the Wilmington Memorial Library’s Book Store Next Door (183 Middlesex Avenue) is open from 10am to 4pm. All books are $2 or less!  Every penny of every sale benefits the Wilmington Memorial Library. Learn more HERE.

#9) The Wilmington Food Pantry (142 Chestnut Street) is open from 10am to noon for food donation drop-offs. Learn which food items the Pantry is most in need of HERE.

#10) The Epilepsy Foundation’s New England Donation Center (335 Main Street, Wilmington) is holding a Donor Appreciation Days Celebration this week. From Sunday, January 22 to Saturday, January 28, from 10am to 5pm, drop off a donation of gently used clothing, books, toys or household items to the Center. There will be a daily drawing for a $25 Amazon gift card.  The person who brings in the largest donation during the week will win a Patriots Gear Fan Pack valued at $500. Refreshments will be served from 10am to 5pm, including coffee, donuts and bagels in the morning, and sandwiches and drinks in the afternoon. Make a difference to a family struggling with epilepsy by donating!
