STERLING, MA – Elizabeth “Betsy” (Dahlin) Howe, 69, of Sterling, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully last week.
Born in Worcester and raised in Northborough, she was the daughter of the late J. Kenneth Dahlin, a Purple Heart recipient and World War II veteran, and Elizabeth “Betty” Dahlin, a member of the West Boylston Board of Health and West Boylston Board of Appeals.
Betsy was class salutatorian at Algonquin Regional High School and earned scholarships to graduate from Syracuse University with a Bachelor’s degree in English. An avid business writer and human resources manager, she won accolades for Sweetheart Plastics in Wilmington, Massachusetts. After moving to West Boylston in 1981, she volunteered her time and resources to different community programs. She owned her freelance writing company, Howe Communications, and enjoyed vacations to Siesta Key, Florida. Betsy emphasized altruism and epitomized warmth, care, and love. Betsy’s greatest pride was her family – she was the best mother.
Betsy is survived by her two children, Emily and P.J. Howe; brother Donald K. Dahlin and sister-in-law Rhonda; and her beloved cocker spaniel, Brady.
There are no calling hours. A private funeral will be held at the convenience of the family and burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Boylston. A memorial service for friends will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sterling Ambulance Department whose team took great care of Betsy and her mother Betty over the years, or the charity of one’s choice.
(NOTE: The above obituary is from Miles Funeral Home.)
