Wilmington Firefighters To Participate In Boston Bruins Foundation’s First Responder Challenge

WILMINGTON, MA — Several Wilmington firefighters are participating in the Boston Bruins Foundation’s 1st Annual First Responder Challenge on Sunday, January 22 at the TD Garden in Boston.

Wilmington Firefighters will be joined by first responders from around New England as they attempt to complete an in-arena course, climbing stairs and running concourse laps that will span the TD Garden’s bowl, premium level and balcony level. Many participants will complete the challenge in full gear.

The event will raise funds for The Hundred Club of Massachusetts, a charity that provides assistance and support to the surviving families of police officers and firefighters killed in the line-of-duty.

The event will also raise awareness for the Bruins brand new community fitness initiative, “Boston Bruins BFit.” The program, developed by former Bruins strength and conditioning coach and Wilmington resident John Whitesides, strives to promote healthier living through approachable fitness and dietary eduction.

The Wilmington Firefighters have already raised nearly $3,000. They’re hoping, however, to reach their goal of $10,000.  To make a contribution to the team, donate online HERE.
